How this In-Line, Plug-N-Play Filter Works This filter is a patent pending multi-stage, multi-media filtration system that incorporates the following filtration technologies:
1. Pre-Filter Sleeve: A carbon impregnated porous plastic media sleeve provides structural support for down-stream HZ (High Zeta) media while at the same time acting as a pre-filter element to reduce sediment load, remove water borne chemicals, and industrial and pharmaceutical pollutants. A variety of filter aids can be added to the porous plastic to provide a targeted approach to specific contaminants.
2. High Zeta (HZ) Filtration Media: A new category of nonwoven media that filters water with the efficiency of a membrane, but at higher flow rates and many times less pressure drop. HZ electro-adsorptive filter media improves water quality through a natural positive charge that is effective in removing submicron contaminants including bacteria and virus.
This innovative patented technology is based on attaching boehmite (AlOOH) fibers 2 nm in diameter x 250 nm in length onto a microglass structural fiber. The fibers create a highly electropositive nonwoven filter media with a zeta potential of 50 millivolts at pH7.2. HZ has excellent loading capacity due to the availability of more than 42,000 square meters of electropositive fiber surface area per square meter of filter media. HZ contains 32% by weight powder activated carbon to improve the taste and odor of water by removing chlorine and humic compounds.
